PLAYER DEVELOPMENT CENTRES FOR 'LITTLE KIDS'
An Innovative coaching programme for pre-school children

Our Mini Development Centres are for children, aged 18 months to 5 years. They are parent friendly, child specific and provide an introduction to the basic skills of football. Each child works with their own ball and this enables them to learn to master ball skills from an early age.

The Mini Centres also use football as a means to achieve the following:
  • Improve body awareness, mobility and fitness.
  • Improve balance and coordination.
  • Develop initial literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Increase self confidence.
  • Build self esteem.
  • Learn to share and take turns.

Our carefully planned programme is about a great deal more than just developing your child's affinity with football, it is about giving them a well-rounded start in their physical, social and educational development and developing the 'whole child'.

Our structured sessions allow parents to spend quality time with their child, safe in the knowledge that they are helping to develop the ABC skills of Agility, Balance & Coordination. This approach ensures that children are learning to build the foundation of a healthy lifestyle and are beginning a lifelong relationship with sport and physical activity.

The classes are structured in such a way that parents are able to take away short activities to play with their children at home. We actively encourage you to practise at home, thereby promoting physical activity throughout the week and encouraging structured play. This type of activity forms a vital part of a young child's development and lays the foundation upon which all later learning depends.

The emphasis at our sessions is always on fun, structured play and development throughout the two phases of our programme.

Phase One sessions are for children aged 18 months to 3.

Phase One is designed for children who can move confidently and with the help of their parent/carer they will start to learn basic football skills and ball mastery. Your child will be encouraged to use both feet equally well during all football activities and games, which in turn helps with balance and coordination.

Phase One sessions will also begin to introduce the early stages of:

  • Personal and social development
  • Communication, language and literacy
  • Numeracy skills
  • Physical development
  • Spatial awareness

Sessions in Phase One follow a familiar format each week, as regular routines help children to feel secure and gain confidence. Children and parents also get the opportunity to share those first unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures.

Phase Two sessions are for children aged 3 years to 5 years.

The sessions in Phase Two are designed to build on the skills learnt in Phase One. Children advancing to Phase Two are encouraged to work independently, but with the support and assistance of their parent/carer if needed. Hopefully, by Phase Two children will be confident with the ball and equally good at using both feet. At this point, they will be introduced to more advanced football skills.

Phase Two sessions are more structured to include the following:

  • Warm up exercises and games.
  • Ball work to improve core technical skills.
  • Structured games and imaginative free play.
  • Introduction to small sided games.
  • Opportunity to progress to one of our Development Centres.

As their confidence grows, group work and the idea of sharing and taking turns is introduced. Children in Phase Two are also encouraged to learn to persevere when learning new skills so that they become second nature.
